National Development Council consisting of all political
parties had resolved to discontinue Leave Travel Concession to all
employees in the year, 1992-93. But, Leave Travel Concession was
not discontinued for about 10 years. The Central Government had
to pay Leave Travel Concession to employees. Leave Travel Concession
was discontinued since two years.
But, in the Budget of 2003-04, the Finance Minister, Shri Jaswant
Singh has introduced it again.
There are two crore seventy nine lacs (2,70,00,000) Organized employees
of the Central Government, Public Corporations and Companies. It
is unfortunate that by incurring debts the Central Government and
the State Governments give Leave Travel Concession and it is in
India the employees get moneys to enjoy vacations on Hill-Stations.
Rs.10,000 crore can be saved by the Central Government, State Government,
Banks and Public Sector Corporations, if L.T.C. is discontinued.
